Ecological Use of Pig Waste in Peri-Urban Towns

Ecological use of pig waste in peri-urban towns - is an EU project in the EU- ASIA PRO ECO II PROGRAMME.

The project of ecological use of pig waste in peri-urban area of Dafeng aims to support the area with opportunities and solution for ecological pig waste treatment and environmental production, by transferring know-how and experiences from EU and develop regulations in the environmental field.

Ecological use of pig waste provides an opportunity to build a pig waste treatment system that is new to the Chinese farming. The use of pig waste as a fertilizer provides an opportunity to make pig waste into a resource.

The following activities will take place:

Training of administrative staff
Training of farmers on ecology, soil quality, treatment of pig waste etc.
Training of teachers and students of agro-college
Development of environmental legislation
Construction and implementation of pig waste plant
Started up activities at the beginning of 2006 and has a duration of 2 1/2 years

Objectives

Ecological use of pig waste in peri-urban towns pursues the following objectives:

To transfer know-how on building a pig waste ecological treatment system
To respond to environmental problems
To disseminate the obtained results to others. This will result in a positive impetus to a continuing sustainable development around the area
To enhance the cooperation between EU and China
